transparency and intentions
Before I came to Italy for the first time I went to my aunt’s for dinner. There, she shared with me a daily journal that she wrote when she was 18 on a vacation in Germany. Though the content was captivating, what I loved most was how her eyes lit up when we read it together. You could see her transport back to those moments – maybe some small at the time, but reading it together she was reliving a monumental piece of her life.
So, I decided to do the same. Write about my day and all the small little things that happened within the 24 hour span. The idea though, is that this is not “just” for me. I hope that one day I have a daughter or a son of my own and that when they are older (the content as you can only assume ranges from G to R-rated) I can share some of my memories with them. Encouraging them to take chances, face the world and dive into themselves with unmatched grace and fearlessness.
Now, this experience – moving to Italy. I wanted to share it with more people. Why? Aside from keeping me close to those whom I love from home, it allows others a chance to get to know me, relate to me or find inspiration to take their own leap of faith into the unknown.
This is not a “how-to”. This is my diary. Where I speak freely about my experiences – this includes all the good and all the bad (but always entertaining.) I will never mention names as I don’t want to offend but I won’t be holding back. For those of you who believe to be a character in one of my posts, well… you’re probably right but don’t fret, your identity will be safe with me.
So, I hope you enjoy the read. Find humour, find lightness, find inspiration.
I look forward to sharing my life with you.
